The Skin

A two-way membrane, the skin is the largest organ in the human body and functions as an organ of elimination of water based toxins and for the absorption of fat based compounds. We are capable of absorbing both toxins and nutrients through our skin as well as eliminating them. It is important to exfoliate and nourish the skin.

The skin is the primary organ involved in the production of Vitamin D and should be considered important enough to treat with healthy, natural skin care products. My favorite organic skin care products are
SeaFlora and Healing Scents.

My favorite single oil for overall therapeutic purposes is organic raw coconut oil by Omega Nutrition.
Any natural, ”organic” skin care product should list plant, nut and seed oils as ingredients and no synthetics or mineral oil. Mineral oil is petroleum and should only be used for industrial applications.

Dry Skin Brushing

The skin, sometimes called the third kidney, is the body's largest organ. During every 24-hour period, the body makes new skin. When it functions efficiently, it eliminates two pounds of waste acids daily, so its ability to excrete toxins is of paramount importance; when the skin ceases to function properly, an increased burden is placed on the lymphatic system and other excretory organs. The functioning and health of the skin can be increased by Dry Skin Brushing. Dry Skin Brushing removes the top layer of skin, which helps to eliminate uric acid crystals, catarrh and other acids in the body.

The Dry Skin Brushing Technique

The technique is simple. With a firm, natural bristle bath brush, beginning at the soles of the feet and working your way up the legs, torso, back, hands, and arms (in a circular motion and always toward the heart), brush away the dry, top layer of dead skin. The increase in circulation is immediately apparent and produces a clear complexion, improved colouring and smooth skin.

Daily Dry Skin Brushing for 3-5 minutes can easily fit into one's morning grooming regime and offers an opportunity for the body to "breathe" before being blanketed in clothing.

Ozone Steam Sauna

Ozone therapy is a natural alternative to detoxify, kill infectious disease bacteria and virus organisms. Diseases such as Herpes, Aids, Lyme Disease and Hepatitis respond very quickly with the use of Ozone Therapy. Ozone, often called activated oxygen, is a compound containing three oxygen molecules.

The first recorded medical use was in 1915, and it has been in almost continuous use since then. It has been used on a regular basis for decades in Germany and other European countries. Oxygen is a basic element of life, and ozone provides one of the best methods of supplying it to the body.

Comfrey Liquid Poultice

Comfrey is a traditional herb used to speed the formation of new tissue, including bone. Its widely documented use makes it a natural choice to include in any body treatment for muscle, tendon, ligament or bone damage.

One of the country names for comfrey was ‘knitbone’, a reminder of its traditional use in healing bone fractures. Modern science confirms that comfrey can influence the course of bone ailments.

The herb contains allantoin, a cell proliferant that speeds up the natural replacement of body cells. Comfrey has been used to treat a wide variety of ailments ranging from bronchial problems, broken bones, sprains, arthritis, gastric and varicose ulcers, severe burns, acne and other skin conditions.

Geothermal StoneTherapy

Geothermal Therapy is a modern term used to describe heated and chilled stone massage. This process is known by Native Americans as Inyan Pejuta (Lakota language meaning; Stone Medicine). Geo-Thermal Stone Therapy Massage is a unique and deeply relaxing treatment. This sought after treatment experience is offered in a variety of modalities such as Swedish Massage, Therapeutic Massage and facials. Geothermal Therapy is a term defined by the La Stone Therapy originators who offer the most comprehensive training on the use of geothermal therapy.

Geo-Thermal Therapies offer highly effective soft tissue manipulation using temperature, specific strokes and stone layouts to effect circulatory, lymphatic and neurological systems.

Warm oil is worked over the skin with hot basalt stones, inducing deep relaxation in the muscles and tissues of the body. Followed by cooling carved marble to tone and detoxify by constriction and cause a vascular flush of tissues. Basalt, with its high Iron content holds and retains heat the longest of all stones. Quarried Marble holds and retains cold the longest. Alternating between hot and cold flushes the body of toxins, cleanses the lymphatic system. This alternating temperature helps to tone muscles. The application of cold helps to reduce inflammation, scar tissue and promotes circulation.
